Dell launches new XPS laptops ahead of CES 2024

Amidst the imminent onset of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week, certain brands have preemptively unveiled their latest technological offerings. One such noteworthy revelation comes from the prominent American PC manufacturer, Dell, which has introduced a series of novel XPS laptops and UltraSharp monitors. The traditional XPS lineup, known for its 13, 15, and 17-inch variants, has undergone a substantial overhaul this time, presenting consumers with refreshed screen dimensions, a unified aesthetic, and cutting-edge hardware.

Dell’s Unveiling of the XPS Laptops:

The recently disclosed Dell XPS laptops are now available in 13 (9340), 14 (9440), and 16-inch (9640) configurations. These variants provide users with both OLED touch and non-touch alternatives. The 13.4 and 14.5-inch models offer display resolutions ranging from FHD+, QHD+, to 3.2K, while the 16.3-inch XPS is available in either FHD+ or 4K variants.

These innovative Dell XPS laptops showcase a sophisticated design, featuring an aluminum chassis and Gorilla Glass 3 for the display. An interesting addition is the integration of the power button as a fingerprint scanner. All three models boast a glass touchpad that spans the entirety beneath the keyboard. The machines are equipped with a backlit lattice keyboard, complete with gap-less keys. Notably, there’s a new touch function row facilitating seamless transitions between media and function keys. Additionally, the laptops house a 1080p webcam and are enhanced with quad speakers, supporting Dolby Atmos.

Setting a new standard, Dell’s XPS laptops are the pioneers in introducing the Copilot Key.

Delving into the technical specifications, the XPS laptops by Dell are powered by the formidable Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, coupled with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. The base model incorporates integrated Intel Arc graphics, omitting a dedicated GPU. Configurations allow for a maximum of 64GB LPDDR5x RAM and 4TB SSD storage across all three models. The XPS 13 and 14 are accompanied by 55 and 69.5WHr battery units, respectively, with support for a 60W adapter. The larger XPS 16 draws its power from a robust 99.5WHr cell, compatible with a 130W adapter.

Pricing and Availability:

The freshly announced Dell XPS laptops enter the market with a starting price of $1,299 for the 13-inch variant. The 14 and 16-inch models are priced at $1,699 and $1,899, respectively. Consumers can choose from Platinum and Graphite color options. Although Dell has not disclosed the exact availability date, they assure prospective buyers of its imminent arrival.
